Deichwacht is a game that runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data with us or with anyone else. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and makes no network requests of any kind. The game works fully offline.
What stays on your device
The following information is created and stored only on your device, in the app's own local storage. It is never sent anywhere:
- Your game progress — nights played, the coast places you have reached, the contents of your store shed, and the state of your watch.
- Your in-app settings — music, sound effects, haptics, appearance and the tide reminder toggle.
- If you choose to add yourself to the watch roster: the name you type, and a portrait you take with the camera or pick from your photo library. The portrait is processed with a painterly filter and saved inside the app's own storage only.

Our App Store data-collection disclosure for this app is "Data Not Collected."
Camera and photo library
Deichwacht asks for camera access only when you choose to create your own member portrait for the watch roster, and explains why before the system prompt appears. If you decline or have no camera, you can pick a photo from your library instead (no permission is needed to open the picker), or skip this entirely — every other part of the game remains fully playable. No image ever leaves your device.
Notifications
If you switch on the tide reminder in Settings, the app schedules a local notification on your device for the next storm night. This happens only after you turn the setting on, no server or third party is involved, and you can switch it off at any time, either in the app or in the system Settings app.
Third parties
Deichwacht uses no third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks or backend servers. The in-app Sturmflut chronicle is bundled content shown in an in-app web view; it does not load anything from the internet.
Children's privacy
Deichwacht does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data from anyone at all.
Deleting your data
Use "Start the season over" in the app's Settings screen to clear your saved progress, or delete the app to remove everything it has stored on your device.
